We perform magnetic particle inspection of final machined components. We have a horizontal MPI bench unit capable of delivering current flow and magnetic flow that energizes the magnetic fields within the component. We also utilize a specialized vertical MPI bench unit that offers advanced magnetizing techniques with features such as split air coils, submerged residual field testing, Traz ring testing. For bigger components or complex geometries, then we can use an electromagnetic yoke to induce the magnetic field within the component. We can work to most magnetic particle standards or a companies own written procedure. We have our own written inspection procedures which comply with the parameters outlined in inspection standards such as BS EN ISO 9934, ASME V Article 7, ASTM E1444, ASTM E709, Defstan 02-729-PT2.

We are specialists in the detection of in-service cracking, stress corrosion cracking and looking to detect the early signs of fatigue failure. Our technicians have years of experience operating in the energy sectors looking to detect defects that have initiated from the component or plant whilst in service.
Our experience in the inspection of steam turbines, combined cycle gas turbine and generator rotor components is unchallenged. Our technicians have extensive experience of testing power generation assets. We can confidently perform magnetic particle inspections on most in-service turbine & generator ferrous components such as turbine spindles, generator rotor spindles, turbine cylinders, turbine disc inspection, turbine blading and all the stud bolts, valve bodies, valve spindles and valve seats that are associated with the turbine train.
Our technicians have plenty of experience in the offshore and onshore oil and gas energy sectors performing scheduled inspections or contributing to the plants life time assessment utilizing non-destructive testing. In addition to detecting service defects, we as a company have undertook defect repair campaigns on high value offshore assets to remove these defects within the design allowances permitted and increase the life of the plant.

We have technicians who have extensive experience inspecting welds for defects or imperfections using magnetic particle inspection having gained experience in industries like ship building and oil & gas asset fabrication. We have experience at testing the most complex of weld geometries using MPI using a range of specialized equipment such as electromagnetic yokes, coils, central conductors and cable wraps to magnetize the weldment. We can devise ways to magnetize the most in-accessible places.
Magnetic particle inspection of welds is a competitive business which is why NDT Assessment Services remains cost competitive. Cost competitive comes with no shortcuts, we maintain the competitive pricing with efficient workings and methodologies. Inspection standard compliance is where we shine, we stick to the standard. The technicians rock with the latest MPI equipment which is calibrated by an external IEC17025 accredited calibration test house . All MPI inspections are performed to a written magnetic particle inspection procedure approved by an level 3 EN9712 certified engineer.
We have a inspection base where we can inspect your welded components and piping spools. Alternatively, we can send a technician to you and perform the weld testing on your site.
